Safety Tips

Match My Sport Safety Tips

  • Match My Sport allows people to meet up and play sports. Match My Sport hope that people who use the site will do so in a safe and responsible way, this can be achieved by following some of these safety tips.

  • Registering

  • When registering with MatchMySport, your address will NOT be shown to other users. You have the option of displaying your telephone number in your sports advert. Only your name and email address details will be available to your potential sports partner and your telephone number if you fill in that option when placing an advert.

  • Under 18's are not allowed to use the site.

  • Meeting your Potential Sports Partner

  • If you feel that you want to meet up with your potential sports partner, please contact your sports partner.

  • If you have placed an event or sports advert and received a reply.
  • You can contact your potential sports partner by paging them. Please see www.paginglist.com to sign up for an account (please note: call charges are available on the Paginglist.com website). PagingList is a way to conquer the fear of giving out phone numbers online, by only giving a username or a tag rather than your mobile number. You can then contact your sport partner by paging them and this keeps your mobile number private. If you no longer want to speak to the person anymore, you can remove their tag, this prevents them from contacting you again. For further information on “paging” – please view the Video on www.paginglist.com.
  • Firstly, contact your sports partner using email and once you are confident and sure of your sports partner, ask for your sports partners tag.

  • We advise to meet at the sports venue, ie. a public place rather than a different location, bring a friend the first time you meet your potential sports partner.

  • Use your own transport, dont arrange to be picked up by your potential sports partner

  • Take a fully charged mobile with plenty of Credit and arrange a friend to call you during the activity to check that you are ok.

  • If you are meeting someone in a non-fixed venue, eg. to go jogging or cycling or walking, suggest to meet for a coffee in a public place beforehand to get to know your sports partner. If you feel unsure about them, don't carry out the sporting activity.

  • Don't arrange to get picked up or dropped off at home by your sports partner - as your Personal Address Details need to stay private, make your own travel arrangements.

  • Tell a trusted friend of your sport activity plans: give them details of your potential sports partner you are meeting such as Name, Email Address, Sports Venue Address Details. Tell them where you are going, how long you expect to be and call them when you have arrived home safely.

  • Trust your instincts and use your common sense that the Sports Venue is a Safe Place.
